Athena is a 1-year-old Black and Red Female German Shepherd who was rescued from a small, overcrowded rural shelter. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and protected against fleas, ticks, and heartworm. Athena is also microchipped. This sweet, loving, and fun-loving girl has a wonderful … personality, but she does struggle with separation anxiety. She will not destroy anything, but she will bark loudly when left alone and takes time to settle down. Athena is not fond of being crated. Athena would do best in a home with someone who has the time to spend with her, as she requires attentive care. She gets along with other dogs but can be a bit pushy, so a confident, outgoing canine companion would be the ideal match. However, Athena has a strong prey drive and should not be around small children or cats. An experienced German shepherd dog owner would be preferred, as Athena loves to learn and training is fun for her. She is very treat and toy motivated and will need continued training in her new, loving, stable, and structured home environment.
