Connie

About Connie

Get ready to meet Connie, an incredibly sweet and sensitive 7-year-old Golden Retriever who will steal your heart! At a healthy weight of 54 pounds, Connie is the perfect size for her stature, and regular walks and exercise will help her stay in great shape. She may have spent the first 7 years of her life in a puppy mill as a breeding dog, but Connie has come a long way since then and is adjusting to her new life with each passing day. She’s becoming more curious and brave, shedding her initial shyness and fear of exploration. As her foster parents will tell you, Connie is an absolute joy to have around. She’s intelligent, somewhat food motivated, and has even discovered a newfound love for tennis balls! Connie adores everyone she meets, and while she can be a bit timid around high-energy dogs, continued socialization and training will help her thrive and become the dog she truly wants to be. While she may not enjoy the hustle and bustle of a dog park, she happily goes for walks and socializes well with other low-energy, calm dogs. Playtime is a new adventure for Connie, but she’s already shown great interest in toys, particularly balls. Although she may not play for long periods just yet, her love for chasing a ball indicates that she’ll make an excellent fetch partner in due time. Connie is also learning to love walks and enjoys stops to greet people and explore new scents along the way. She may have some fears, like benches and big rocks, but with gentle guidance, she overcomes them and bravely explores her surroundings. Connie is a loving and affectionate companion who craves attention and closeness to her foster mum, so setting clear boundaries and boosting her confidence will be essential in her forever home. Although she had reservations about her crate due to her puppy mill experience, Connie’s crate training is progressing well. She may still need some assistance getting into the crate, but she willingly goes in with a little help. A wire crate seems to work best for her, and she’s gradually associating it with positive experiences, such as being fed inside. Connie is comfortable being left alone for short time frames, and she’s slowly being introduced to walks, exercise, and training. While she may be a bit apprehensive about taking treats from a hand, unless it’s chicken (which she absolutely loves!), Connie is an overall precious and deserving dog who is ready for a loving home. Don’t miss the chance to meet this brave-hearted girl and experience the joy she brings. Come meet Connie today and let her melt your heart with her gentle spirit and big heart!
